No More Survival of Unethical Immigration Consultants in Quebec!
Quebec is one such concerned province in Canada that has recently rolled out a few regulations to the immigration consultants. This concern is for the potential immigrants who want to migrate to Canada. In an effort to discourage the unlawful immigration consultancy practices that have been cheating on many prospective immigrants, the provincial government of Quebec has recently announced what are the guidelines that from now onwards immigration consultants in Quebec should stick to. As per the recent regulations proposed by the Quebec government, immigration consultants must clear a test and they have to register with the Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants. Besides, they should have a clean background in this practice and fair knowledge of French language and should be residents of Quebec. With this implementation, a public database will also help people identify which immigration consultants are accredited by the provincial government and those who are not recognized. The new guidelines for the consultants clearly indicate that the Quebec government will no more accept illegal immigration consultancy services that would deter prospective migrants from entering Canada. The government made it clear that all services will have to obey the guidelines, else they will have to stop their practices. In appreciation of the guidelines, the Canadian federal government showed its keenness of implementing similar actions. However, the government is yet to reveal when it’s going to make this happen in the future! The steps taken by the government of Quebec are undoubtedly commendable. Since, cases of cheating people by false or dishonest immigration consultants are common in many places. Hope, other countries and places would also take such steps in the near future and let lawful consultants provide services Quebec: New Immigration Program Announced! Canada has recently declared the commencing of new credential offices in India, along with other countries, including China, UK and Philippines. Every year, lacs of immigrants move to Canada from all over the globe, with thousands of them coming from India. People regard it as one of the most applauded countries to craft one’s future and get some of the best jobs in accordance to one’s forte and skills. Talking about the application process, a majority of overseas applicants with foreign degrees find it hard to get Canadian degrees, often leading them to get low paid jobs like cab drivers or cooks in Canadian provinces. In an attempt to ease out the pain of new applicants, the Canadian government has come out with announcement to open offices which would further accelerate the Credential Recognition Process for overseas applicants. It is speculated that every year, almost $2 billion is lost for not utilizing the skills of new overseas applicants. He went on to say that the government wants overseas immigrants to use their skills in Canada and the fund would further boost the credential recognition process even further. The move is good for the prospective applicants as well as the Canadian economy, according to the minister. Authorized Uses of the Canadian Social Insurance Number! Every department or agency in Canada is not authorized to collect the Social Insurance Number of a Canadian. There are a few specific authorized programs or departments that use a person’s SIN in order to manage a range of activities involving the person holding the number. Basically, any kind of execution of the SIN by the federal government is governed by the Treasury Board policy authorization. The Canadian Employment Insurance Commission is entitled for issuing SINs. This is the same body, which is responsible for maintaining a record of the information needed to identify applicants who are entitled to various benefits under the country’s Insurance programs. In order to be able to avail these benefits, workers are required to provide their SINs to the respective administrative body. As per the Canadian Income Tax Act: 1. A person is required to provide his/her SIN for filing an annual tax return. 2. Government agencies need the number for providing the SIN holder with grants, loans, and other types of financial assistance. 3. Employers need the SIN in order to provide an employee with his/her record of employment, as well as other purposes like pension and personal income tax. 4. A person needs to provide the SIN when applying for the Canadian Child Tax Benefit. 5. A person is also required to provide the SIN to banks, or other financial organizations. Social assistance programs like Canada Pension Plan also require a Canadian’s SIN. These are the programs that offer financial assistance to a person engaged in pensionable job and his/her family when circumstances occur that cause loss of income, such as retirement, death or disability. In order to able to avail such benefits, one needs to provide his/her SIN, along with other details, such as name; sex; and address. According to the Old Age Security (OAS) Act, a person is required to provide his/her Social Insurance Number at the time of availing the OAS benefits. Over 65-year-old individuals are entitled to the Old Age Security pension. In this respect, an SIN is required to confirm the amount of benefits a person is entitled to; his/her date of birth; sex; marital status; and date of death. |
